Right, another day of learning PHP :) Actually quite enjoyed it! Here are the updates:

Gallery
The gallery page is up and running! This is what I've been working on for most of the day. Firstly it took me ages to figure out how to batch-resize in Photoshop CS2, partially cos I'm running Windows Vista and partially cos I'm a bit thick sometimes. Once the batch resizing and renaming was done for the various galleries (only 3 so far) I started writing the PHP code that would allow me to simply upload a folder of files and update a data file with comments and info about the gallery and pictures, allowing the server to deal with creating the gallery pages!
Arrays
The idea is to have all the data related to the photographs stored in a central location, so it can be accessed from any page at any time, just by including the file at the beginning of index.php. Initially I tried to create this storage with functions and nested switch'es, but this proved to be complicated and in the end didn't work. So I decided to find out how to use arrays, which did the trick!

The plans for tomorrow are as follows: Go out and get some sunshine and hopefully go for a swim! After that, see if I can use arrays to write these blog entries.... somehow I doubt it! Oh, and I'll try to add some more galleries, 3 seems a bit little ;)

Well here is my new site! I've decided to do this one properly and use PHP and CSS instead of MS FrontPage, and making this "blog" is as far as I've come on my first day. Apart from the flies in my room (they love the light from my screen when I work late) it's been pretty straight forward so far :) Anyways, here are a list of the updates:

All in PHP!
As mentioned I've decided to do this webpage in PHP, and at the same time re-learn how to code in HTML properly. This has mainly involved using the W3C Schools website as a reference while coding, and also the Hardware.no PHP beginners guide which inspired me to do this in the first place.
New news page!
The news page has changed radically, and now only displays the amount of entries you want. I wrote a snippet of PHP that counts the number of news files I've uploaded (as 1.php, 2.php and so on) in their own folder using the file_exists() command. Dunno if that's the best way to do it but still, it work quite well!
Curriculum Vitae
Now that I've graduated I thought it would be a good idea to keep my CV posted on the web. As I learn more about Style Sheets and layout it should start to look pretty presentable!

Well, that's what I've managed so far. Tomorrow I reckon it's time for some work on the gallery! Not entirely sure how I'll do this, will have to work out a good way up defining an array of comments to go with the pictures or something along those lines... And, at some point I'll start updating this blog with info about stuff going on in my life, with a special emphasis on life after University!

By the way, the entries below this one are carried over from the previous version of my website for testing purposes, and are not entirely functional.

It is probably rather obvious, but I don't update this news thing as often as I should do! Anyways, been very busy lately with uni work, what I thought was going to be a relaxing work-free semester has turned into an abundance of work. Luckily our project is quite interesting so I'm rather enjoying this semester! Current priorities are finding somewhere to live next year, and finding some work for this summer, cos if I'm to keep up my, ehm, lifestyle (in other words going to Delfters/Poo's/Pig & Fiddle on a regular basis) I'm going to need to have some lucrative work! Anyways, speaking of the Pig & Fiddle, it's that time of the week again!
